Renowned for his Dunk Contest dramatics, Mac McClung has finally landed some job security beyond NBA All-Star Weekend.
Mac McClung finally found a slam dunk opportunity for NBA longevity.

Per Shams Charania of ESPN, the Slam Dunk Contest hero has landed a multi-year deal from the Indiana Pacers. While the deal is not guaranteed, it still stands as his first standard NBA contract since going pro in 2021.
McClung, 26, currently has six games to his NBA name, including two with the Orlando Magic last season.
Mac McClung Finally Gets NBA Chance!
He has spent most of his career with Orlando’s G League affiliate Osceola, which hosted a championship run in 2023 and his MVP tour the year after, earning a title previously won by Matt Carroll, Chris Boucher, and Paul Reed. In four G League seasons, which also include stops with the affiliates of the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and Philadelphia 76ers, McClung has averaged 22 points and 5.9 assists.
McClung is best known for his All-Star Weekend prowess, where he is one of the most accomplished names in the famed Slam Dunk Contest. The Georgetown/Texas Tech alum has won each of the last three exhibitions, tying Nate Robinson for the most all-time.
He secured the first three-peat last winter in San Francisco, delivering a reverse dunk with a helper that fed him through a Kia sedan’s sunroof before leaping over another assistant and dunking two balls for his finale— all while donning throwback jersey inspired by the Magic’s cherished look from the early 2000s.
McClung also took part in NBA All-Star Weekend’s Rising Stars Challenge alongside 2025 MVP JD Davison and third overall pick Reed Sheppard, as they all repped the G League club that played for a spot in the main event.
McClung is Headed to the Hoosier State
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound guard now joins the roster of the defending Eastern Conference champion Pacers (0-3), who have struggled following the loss of franchise face and backcourt star Tyrese Haliburton to a devastating Achilles injury during Game 7 of last year’s NBA Finals.
In addition to Haliburton, Indiana has also lost T.J. McConnell, as well as Bennedict Mathurin, Andrew Nembhard, and Obi Toppin, to more short-term ailments. The Pacers wrap up an early three-game road trip on Wednesday in Dallas (8:30 p.m. ET, FanDuel Sports Indiana) before opening NBA Cup group play against Atlanta on Friday.

To make room for McClung, the Pacers are reportedly set to release center James Wiseman in another blow to the career of the second overall pick of the 2020 NBA draft. Wiseman played one game for Indiana, recording four points with four rebounds in Saturday’s loss in Memphis.
His Indianapolis debut came a year and two days after his 2024-25 campaign ended early due to a torn Achilles. Wiseman was traded to Toronto at least year’s trade deadline but was waived shortly after.
