6’5 junior Sterling Brown (brother of Phoenix Suns' Shannon Brown) had a monster breakout season for Proviso East High School (Maywood, IL).

Under first year coach Donnie Boyce, Proviso East won their first 32 games. With so many talented perimeter players, Brown sacrificed his game for the good of the team most of the season before shining brightly in the state final. Led by Brown's game-high 25 points, they were 5 points ahead 3 quarters through game 33 before two-time defending Class 4A state champion Simeon (Chicago) ended the run 50-48 in the Illinois title game.
Proviso East finished the season ranked #15 in the USA (ESPNU).

Sterling Brown averaged 13 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4 assists for the season.
