Xavier Silas, a former NBA, G-League and current BIG3 player, is joining the Delaware Blue Coats, according to league sources (Kyle Neubeck first). This puts Silas in rare company as one of the first BIG3 players to make the transition to coaching in the NBA’s G-League.

Less than a month ago, Silas was BIG3 player of the week and is now moving to coach at the G-League level. A former player for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2011, Silas will be coming on as an assistant coach with their G-League affiliate and said “the Blue Coats have a great history of promoting and growing coaches. I played in Philadelphia and love it here.”

On top of the BIG3, Silas runs GIVE Sports, a youth basketball program in Denver, Colorado. He says he has others who will be able to execute his vision during his time with the Blue Coats. Adding “they’ll (his partners) will be an extension of me and everything I’ve learned and continue to learn.”

In terms of BIG3, Silas thinks it’s still possible to do. “I’ve seen Pargo coach and come back. Charlie Bell is a coach and was at the combine. I love the BIG3 and what Jeff and Ice Cube have built.”
